Ladybower 50 2018

Having done the Ladybower 20 mile the previous year and found that quite enjoyable, I signed up for the 50 mile version. Possibly should have used the 35 mile distance as a stepping stone but 50 miles in 13 hours should be achievable I thought. Well about a week before the event a post went out that the cutoff was 12 hours. Slight cause for concern with this being my first attempt at such a distance. But I had trained and I was ready, well as ready-ish. Kit packed, nutrition packed and I set off on the drive there.
The weather was a lovely day but I had still packed the waterproof running jacket, two of them in fact, as Ladybower seems to have it's own micro-climate at the far side. Last year at the 20 I learned that you may set off in sunshine and the start/finish will have lovely sunbathing weather all day, but at the back of the course the heavens could open. With such a long run I was not going to get caught out by that, but there was nothing to be concerned about. The weather stayed sunny and pleasant all day.
